Statement by Sandi Howard, volunteer director of No CMP Corridor:

"For years the constitutional and legal issues with CMP's lease to bisect Maine Public Lands with a destructive corridor have been widely known, yet CMP has pressed on with construction anyway taking a huge financial risk. Allowing CMP to continue to destroy irreplaceable wildlife habitat and vistas in bad faith in the Upper Kennebec Region for a line with a one-mile gap makes absolutely no sense from an environmental standpoint. It's time for the Department to prioritize Maine's environment over corporate profits. I urge the DEP to suspend the permit and halt all destruction until the CMP's significant Title Right and Interest issues are adequately addressed."
