Mainers Will Not Benefit
Our power bills will not be reduced as a result of this project
The proposed corridor will not result in lower power bills for Maine ratepayers. This project isn’t about making electricity more affordable for Mainers, it’s about CMP's stakeholders and investors making a profit.
The "benefits" package offered to to Maine by CMP amounts to roughly $0.37/month per ratepayer, or $5/year, and not all ratepayers will benefit. Meanwhile, CMP will profit to the tune of $60 million/year off of this destructive transmission line.
- Power transmitted on this line cannot be sold in Maine. There is no off ramp for the power; it will just be passing through.
This is a bad deal for Maine!
